About the course

Course summary

This degree will ensure that you understand businesses in the global financial market. You will acquire the skills to become an effective manager and put these into practice through industry aligned projects.Understanding finance is essential to the of success and sustainability of any organisation. You will learn about the economic and financial implications of globalisation, understand bonds, stocks, mutual funds and foreign exchange markets (forex). You will also critically consider the roles of financial decision making and economic analysis in supporting strategic decision making and business leadership.During your first year you will study core modules that will help build the foundation of your knowledge. You will start to build your leadership capabilities and develop an understanding of the global business environment, organisational culture, business growth, enterprise and the financial system.During your second and final year you will develop your strategic management skills and specialist finance knowledge. There will be opportunities to work with businesses on strategic initiatives, develop your understanding of people management, globalisation and sustainable business decision.Relationships are at the heart of our programme and we will work closely with local businesses to ensure you have up-to-date knowledge and a solid network of professional contacts upon graduation. You will be a part of a community of learners, and academics who all aspire to impact business and help support the vibrant operating environment of Plymouth.
